  • Traditional skills are a hallmark of ethical fashion, and our Woven Ikat Dress embodies them. traditionally, the pattern is died into the fabric, but here the fibers are dyed, then woven into the textile. This is your date night dress with strappy stilettos or your daytime dress with ballet flats.

  • Mata Traders mixes old-fashioned processes with fashion-forward silhouettes and color palettes. Most fabrics are made using craft traditions such as hand loom weaving and hand block printing.

But, that's just half the story. Their handmade garments are sewn by members of women's cooperatives in India and Nepal, and their work is a way out of poverty and a petter future for their children.  Choosing fair trade creates opportunities for women worldwide.

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
  • Do you have any petite clothing? How long is the xs? It looks like this dress is designed to stop before the knee, but the 36 in (length of the medium) would run past my knees.

Unfortunately, we don't have petite sizes, and the XS is ~35" in length. Since we encourage conscious purchasing, we always recommend buying something if you're confident you'll make a small alternation if it needs a better fit. Shortening the hem is a quick, affordable fix, and since the fabric is woven with no stretch, it's an easy DIY. However, I've (Hi! I'm Tavie!) have purchased things in the past that I thought I'd alter, but then never got around to it. What a waste!
